Job summary

Goodwill Greater New York and Northern New Jersey is seeking a Career Navigator (Case Manager) in Jamacia, NY. The role delivers intake, assessments, and tailored employment services to job seekers, coordinating with the Employer Engagement team to match candidates with openings and remove barriers to success.

Ideal candidates hold a BA/BS and 1–2 years in career navigation or related fields, with strong communication, confidentiality, and cross-cultural skills to support diverse populations.

Qualifications

• BA or BS degree required; 1–2 years in career navigation or case management.
• Experience with public assistance, homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, or justice involvement preferred.
• Ability to build rapport and empower youth with career guidance.
• Understanding of needs of economically and socially disadvantaged populations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Record-keeping, HIPAA compliance, and maintaining confidentiality.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, motivational interviewing, conflict resolution.
• Strong time management and attention to deadlines.
• Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Complete client Employment and Individual Service Plan and record in SEAMS.
• Develop short and long-term goals aligned with client interests and history.
• Prepare case notes and assessments within required timeframes.
• Provide follow-up counseling and referrals to vendors, agencies, and HRA as needed.
• Monitor client engagement and adjust life plans to meet goals.
• Coordinate with Employer Engagement Specialist to drive job matching.
• Review resumes and tailor job matching process.
• Provide individual and small group instruction to develop/edit resumes and documents.
• Track intake, assessment, referrals, and data in funder systems.
• Ensure excellent customer service to job seekers.
• Connect clients to relevant public benefits to reduce barriers.
• Conduct safety/crisis risk assessments and escalate when needed.
