Job summary

The South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is seeking a VR Counselor to deliver job development, placement and supported employment services for consumers. You will plan toward successful vocational outcomes and train on-site job skills to support independence at work.

Weekly case notes are required, and you will adapt to diverse work environments with a flex schedule to meet consumer needs. Travel across the day is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or substitution with a high school diploma and related experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively and travel throughout the day to assist consumers.
• Flexible work environments and schedules to meet consumer needs.
• Experience with needs assessments and interviewing techniques.
• Knowledge of community resources and behavioral adjustment techniques.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and families.
• One year with SCVRD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under the guidance of a VR Counselor, provide job development, placement and supported employment services for consumers.
• Provide planning and guidance toward successful vocational outcomes.
• Provide job skills training on the work site to supported employment consumers.
• Maintain case notes weekly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
