Job summary

South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department is hiring a VR Counselor to deliver job development, placement and supported employment services. You will guide consumers toward vocational outcomes and provide on-site job skills training.

Travel is required; you will maintain weekly case notes and collaborate with families and communities to maximize employment opportunities within a supportive state government framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required or a high school diploma with related experience.
• Must communicate effectively and be able to travel for consumer support.
• Ability to work on a flex schedule and conduct needs assessments.
• Knowledge of interviewing techniques and community resources.
• Ability to establish and maintain relationships with individuals and families.
• Official transcripts required to verify college degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide job development, placement and supported employment services under supervision.
• Plan and guide toward successful vocational outcomes for consumers.
• Provide job skills training on the work site to supported employment consumers.
• Maintain case notes weekly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
