Job summary

Leisure Living Oliver Woods Assisted Living and Memory Care in Owosso, MI seeks a dedicated care professional for second and third shift. The role is on-site, with responsibilities including resident care, team leadership, and medication administration per physician orders.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required and completion of Care Specialist I and II within 90 days.
  • At least 6 months of recent experience as a Care Specialist or equivalent.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shift team and ensure resident care needs are met on site.
  • Participate in orientation and training for care team members.
  • Foster a positive work environment and support skill development.
  • Treat residents with kindness and respect during orientation and care.
  • Ensure safety through proper lifting and safe work habits.
  • Be on premises while on duty and handle emergencies as needed.
  • Assist with scheduling coverage as necessary.
  • Review resident care plans and provide care accordingly.
  • Respond to resident calls and safety alarms promptly.
  • Administer medications per physician orders and policies.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for shift team leadership and resident care needs for community Must be on premises while on duty

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serve as go to resource person for team membersParticipate with orientation and training for care team membersFoster a positive work environment and strong support for developing skills with other care team membersAssure that residents are treated with kindness and respect through mentoring and modeling appropriate care and customer service when orientating new care team membersProtect residents from accidents and injuries by practicing safe work habits and safe lifting habitsBe responsible for the safety of residents in the case of emergencyAssist with schedule coverage needs as necessaryReview and provide resident care as outlined in resident service plansAnswer resident call signals as well as door and safety alarms promptlyAdministerpass medications to residents according to physician orders and policiesReview and process physician orders utilizing eMAR in conjunction with pharmacy supportConduct departmental reviewsaudits Providing results to Director of Resident CareAssure adequate medication and supply inventory for residentsObserve and report non emergent resident behavior and condition changes to Care Coordinator andor Director of Resident CareComplete daily charting and documentation as requiredFollow and comply with infection control safety emergency and confidentiality policies and proceduresPromote positive relationships with residents staff and visitorsRemain awake and alert while on shiftPerform any other duties as requested within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions Must work to demonstrate Leisure Living Management Values Live and work each day with purposeAccept accountability and demonstrate responsibilityEmbrace lifelong learningPromote mutual respectDisplay transparencyAppreciate diversityPractice forgivenessBe thankful

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and Experience High school diplomaGED and successful completion of Care Specialist I and II curriculum within 90 days of hire and at least 6 months of recent experience as a Care Specialist or equivalent experience is required Certificates and Licenses Must have CPRFirst Aid certification or obtain within thirty 30 days of hire Computer Skills Must have demonstrable knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office in a Windows environment with a capacity to master company specific software Other Requirements Ability to multi task prioritize and work with minimal supervisionEffective oral and written communication skillsProfessional telephone etiquette and customer service skillsSuperior communication and interpersonal skillsCommunicate in a respectful and professional manner with residents families co workers and leadership staff at the communityDeveloped organizational skillsAbility to problem solve and demonstrate good judgementTeam oriented self starter with demonstrated ability to accept direction and work well with supervisorPromote teamwork by working with coworkers in a positive and cooperative mannerAbility to maintain a high level of confidentiality
