Job summary

Laurus in Michigan is seeking a dedicated Resident Care Assistant to provide comfort, safety and general supervision for residents. You will assist with activities of daily living, administer medications per physician orders, and document care in electronic records while honoring each resident’s preferences.

You will respond to call lights, monitor health changes, support life enrichment activities, and collaborate with care teams.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office in Windows environments.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications to residents per physician orders and document completion.
  • Review eMAR each shift to ensure timely medication administration and treatments.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living as outlined in care plans.
  • Respond to resident call lights promptly and report observations to supervisors.
  • Observe and report resident changes to the Care Coordinator and Director of Resident Care.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing comfort safety and general supervision to residents by assisting them with activities of daily living administering medications and tending to their individual care needs while learning their unique preferences and personalities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Administer medications to residents according to physician orders and document completionReview eMAR each shift to ensure timely administration of medications and treatmentsReview incoming medication physician orders for accuracy Update eMAR accordinglyPartner with residents to provide neededrequested assistance with activities of daily living as outlined in the residents service plansAnswer resident call lights as well as door and safety alarms promptlyObserve and report resident behavior and condition changes to Care Coordinator and Director of Resident CareOrderre order medications to ensure adequate supply is availableComplete daily charting documentation and reporting as requiredObtain resident weights and vitalsParticipate in training new employees as requestedClean and disinfect resident rooms work areas and common spaces according to cleaning scheduleClean and disinfect spills and soiled areas as needed or directedAssist with meal set up and clean up as needed or requestedParticipate in or lead activities as planned by Life Enrichment Assist and remind residents to participate in activitiesPromote positive relationships with residents staff and visitorsRemain awake and alert while on shiftPerform any other duties as requested within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
