Job summary

OU Medicine is seeking a Care Team Associate (CTA) for the Cardiovascular Unit. Under the supervision of a registered nurse, you will perform routine patient-care tasks, monitor health status, and help implement the care plan.

You will take vital signs, monitor telemetry, collect specimens, and assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers. No prior experience is required, but you must have a current BLS certification and qualify as CPCT/PCTC/AUA.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association required.
  • Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) OR Patient Care Technician (PCTC) OR Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) required.

Responsibilities

  • Under RN supervision, monitor patient health status and execute care plans.
  • Record vital signs and perform basic measurements (BP, temperature, pulse, weight).
  • Perform sterile procedures and assist with wounds, drains, suctioning.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers; transport patients as needed.
  • Maintain clean, orderly patient rooms and restock supplies.
  • Provide care as a safety attendant when assigned to a single patient.

Position Title:Care Team Associate CTA Cardiovascular - Full TimeDepartment:Cardiovascular UnitJob Description:Under general supervision of a regi stered nurse, performs routine tasks in patient care.Essential ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.Under general supervision of the RN and in collaboration with the patient and family, systematically and continually monitors the patient’s health status and implements the plan of care.Carries out physician and nursing orders as directed by the RN that is within scope.Takes/records blood pressures , temperatures , pulse and weighs patients.Performs blood glucose monitoring.Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitor .Collects specimens as directed.Applies sterile dressings, removal of sutures, staples and/or drains. Performs all sterile procedures as assigned.Performs stomal irrigation and applies colostomy pouches.Performs oral suctioning.Takes emergency actions as needed and within scope.Performs all treatments and procedures as defined on initial skills checklist.Reports symptoms and significant changes in patient’s condition or behavior to RN.Assists with admission, discharge and transfer process.Transports patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary; assists transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.Keeps the patient’s room in clean and orderly condition; makes beds, replaces soiled linen.Assists in restocking rooms with supplies and equipment as directed.When assigned to one patient as a safety attendant, provides care, observes the patient and does not leave the patient alone.May precept new CTAs.General ResponsibilitiesPerforms other duties as assigned.Education RequirementsHS Diploma or GED required .Experience RequirementsNo experience required .License/Certification/Registration RequirementsCurrent Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required .Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) OR Patient Care Technician (PCTC) OR Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) required .Knowledge /Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures .Ability to communicate effectively.Ability to follow written and oral instructions.Ability to maintain effective working relations with others.Current OU Health Employees - Please click HERE to login.OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
