Job summary

OU Health in Oklahoma City seeks a Care Team Associate-2 in the Adult Emergency Department. Under RN supervision, you will support patient care by performing routine tasks, monitoring vitals, and assisting with admissions and transfers. A current BLS and CPCT/PCTC/AUA certification are required, along with a HS diploma or GED.

No prior experience is necessary, making this an ideal entry point into emergency patient care within a major hospital system in Oklahoma City.

  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required.
  • Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) OR Patient Care Technician (PCTC) OR Advanced Unlicensed Assistant (AUA) required.

Responsibilities

  • Under RN supervision, monitors patient health status and implements the plan of care.
  • Carries out physician and nursing orders within scope.
  • Takes and records blood pressures, temperatures, pulse, and weights.
  • Performs blood glucose monitoring.
  • Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitor.
  • Collects specimens as directed.
  • Applies sterile dressings and performs sterile procedures as assigned.
  • Transports patients and assists with admission, discharge and transfer.

Job Description:

Under general supervision of a regi stered nurse, performs routine tasks in patient care.

Essential Responsibilities

Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Inability to perform these responsibilities with or without an accommodation may result in disqualification from the position.

  • Under general supervision of the RN and in collaboration with the patient and family, systematically and continually monitors the patient's health status and implements the plan of care.
  • Carries out physician and nursing orders as directed by the RN that is within scope.
  • Takes/records blood pressures , temperatures , pulse and weighs patients.
  • Performs blood glucose monitoring.
  • Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitor .
  • Collects specimens as directed.
  • Applies sterile dressings, removal of sutures, staples and/or drains. Performs all sterile procedures as assigned.
  • Performs stomal irrigation and applies colostomy pouches.
  • Performs oral suctioning.
  • Takes emergency actions as needed and within scope.
  • Performs all treatments and procedures as defined on initial skills checklist.
  • Reports symptoms and significant changes in patient's condition or behavior to RN.
  • Assists with admission, discharge and transfer process.
  • Transports patients to and from various treatment centers when necessary; assists transporters in moving patients in and out of stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Keeps the patient's room in clean and orderly condition; makes beds, replaces soiled linen.
  • Assists in restocking rooms with supplies and equipment as directed.
  • When assigned to one patient as a safety attendant, provides care, observes the patient and does not leave the patient alone.
  • May precept new CTAs.
General Responsibilities

Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required .

Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures .

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
