Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Richmond, TX, is seeking a Custodian II for full-time day shift at the Richmond State Supported Living Center. The role requires cleaning, disinfecting, floor care, and minor repairs to support a safe environment for residents and staff.

Responsibilities include training other custodians, maintaining equipment, and ensuring inspections. Benefits include health insurance, pension, and paid time off; telework is not eligible for this position.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning methods, standards and sanitation regulations.
• Knowledge of infection control principles and methods.
• Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
• Skill in use of custodial equipment and safe chemical handling.
• Skill in building maintenance tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to train others.
• Ability to supervise the work of others.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform custodial duties in assigned locations including offices and living units.
• Clean, dust, disinfect, and sanitize to maintain a safe environment.
• Operate floor maintenance equipment (strippers, buffers, vacuums, extractors).
• Restock supplies and assist in inspections and minor repairs.
• Train other custodians as needed and maintain equipment in good condition.
• Maintain exterior areas, dispose of trash, and replenish supplies.
• Complete documentation accurately and protect confidential information.
• Support disaster response and COOP activation as needed.
