Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. is seeking a Principal Scientist (Clinical Director) to lead early clinical development for cardiovascular programs.

You will shape trial design, biomarker strategies, and translational studies across cross-functional teams in Translational Medicine. The role requires an MD or MD/PhD with a strong translational research background, excellent collaboration skills, and the ability to guide programs from first‑in‑human through Proof‑of‑Concept.

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with clinical or translational research background.
• Proven track record in clinical medicine or research and publications.

Responsibilities

• Lead early clinical development strategy from Preclinical through Phase 2.
• Develop biomarker strategies and validate targets for clinical relevance.
• Provide clinical pharmacology input for Phase 3/Worldwide submissions.
• Communicate results to governance bodies and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate across Discovery Sciences, Translational Biomarkers and Clinical Research.
