Merck seeks a Principal Scientist (Clinical Director) to lead early clinical development for novel therapeutic programs, from Preclinical Candidate through Phase 2/3. You will develop biomarker strategies and collaborate across Discovery Sciences, Clinical Research, and regulatory affairs to drive clinical rationale.

The role requires MD/PhD with translational research experience and a track record in clinical medicine, coupled with strong communication skills for governance and cross-functional

Qualifications

• MD or MD/PhD with clinical research experience.
• Proven track record in clinical medicine or clinical research.
• Strong interpersonal, writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead early development strategy and clinical pharmacology plans.
• Design and execute early clinical studies across Phases I–IV.
• Develop and validate biomarker strategies across trials and platforms.
• Provide clinical expertise for target identification and validation.
