Merck & Co., Inc. in South San Francisco is seeking a Principal Scientist (Clinical Director) in Translational Medicine to lead early clinical development strategy for cardiovascular programs and collaborate across Discovery Sciences and late-stage Clinical Research.

The role emphasizes biomarker strategy development, clinical pharmacology execution, and cross-therapeutic collaboration, requiring a strong translational research background and leadership in multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Proven track record in clinical medicine or clinical research, and background in biomedical research.
Demonstrated record of scientific scholarship and achievement including publications or presentations.
Strong interpersonal, writing and presentation skills, as well as the ability to function in a team environment are essential.

Responsibilities

Lead the early development strategy for novel therapies from Preclinical Candidate through Phase 2.
Develop and execute studies to validate clinical platforms using biomarkers.
Provide clinical pharmacology support for programs through worldwide regulatory filings.
Collaborate with Discovery Sciences, Translational Biomarkers and late-stage Clinical Research.
Interface with global teams and governance bodies to interpret study results.
