Job summary

Merck's Translational Medicine group in the United States seeks a Principal Scientist (Clinical Director) to lead early clinical development for cardiovascular programs, collaborating across Discovery Sciences and late-stage Clinical Research.

The role requires an MD or MD/PhD with a strong translational research background and a track record of excellence; it involves biomarker development, clinical pharmacology, and cross-functional leadership in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

Proven track record in clinical medicine or clinical research, and background in biomedical research.
Demonstrated scholarly output and ability to collaborate across therapeutic areas.
Strong interpersonal, writing and presentation skills; team oriented.

Responsibilities

Lead early clinical development strategy for novel therapy programs from Preclinical through Phase 2.
Develop biomarker strategies and validate platforms across First-in-Human to Proof-of-Concept.
Provide clinical pharmacology support for Phase 2 to worldwide regulatory filing.
Collaborate with Discovery Sciences, regulatory affairs, biostatistics and global clinical trials operations.
Communicate study results to governance and development teams.
