The community you’ll be caring for: AdventHealth Orlando

  • Located on a lush tropical campus, our flagship hospital, 1,368-bed AdventHealth Orlando
  • Serves as the major tertiary facility for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and South America
  • AdventHealth Orlando houses one of the largest Emergency Departments and largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country
  • We are already one of the busiest hospitals in the nation, providing service excellence to more than 32,000 inpatients and 125,000 outpatients each year

The Role You’ll Contribute

The Cardiovascular Sonographer performs all high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams per registry and in accordance with department protocols. Assists physicians with interventional procedures such as but not limited to transesophageal and stress echocardiograms. The Cardiovascular Sonographer is knowledgeable in and carries out all applicable processes of the department. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Utilizes the knowledge and skills for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe, accurate and effective procedures on patients. Acquires knowledge and skills through training, in-service, continuing education and/or experience. Learns and adapts to new technologies and protocols and helps develop the knowledge and competency of coworkers and students. Utilizes knowledge of cardiac and peripheral vascular anatomy and physiology.
  • Performs routine and complex studies, in addition to assisting with a variety of imaging procedures.
  • Must be able to perform/function with little or no supervision.
  • Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patient body habitus and/or NPO prep status as observed by Cardiologists, Ultrasound Educator, and Manager. Follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual. Utilizes two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam. Performs, properly documents, and reports all procedures in accordance with departmental policy. Adapts procedure to each patient’s medical situation obtaining all available necessary information for proper interpretation. Maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Associate of Science Cardiovascular Sonography
  • Accredited Graduate of Sonographer Program
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support
  • RDCS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography
  • RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography
