Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) to direct science input from physicians, scientists, and allied health volunteers for statements, guidelines, and education programs. This role combines clinical knowledge with leadership to influence policy, web content, and public-facing materials.

You will work with internal teams, manage multiple projects, and travel about 25% of the time.

Qualifications

• RN/MD/NP/PA with graduate degree and clinical cardiovascular experience.
• 3+ years professional adult cardiology clinical experience; 8 years preferred.
• Publication history in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to manage multiple, complex projects with time constraints.
• Travel overnight ~25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Guide science volunteers in creating scientific statements, guidelines, and conferences.
• Provide consultation on science aspects to internal staff for programs and publications.
• Review content for Association websites and products.
• Explain current state of science and medicine to lay professionals and staff.
