Job summary

The American Heart Association is hiring a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) in the National Center with remote/home-based options. The SMA guides clinical and research experts, producing scientific statements, guidelines, and educational programs while advising staff on science content for publications and public materials.

Ideal candidates bring advanced clinical credentials with cardiology experience, strong writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects.

Qualifications

• RN, MD, NP, or PA with a graduate degree and clinical cardiovascular experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional adult cardiology clinical experience; eight (8) years preferred.
• Superior writing & communication skills with a publication history in peer‑reviewed journals.

Responsibilities

• Guide and partner with science volunteers in creating scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, conference programming, and mentoring experiences.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects to internal staff for programs, publications, websites, and other materials.
• Work with teams to review content for Association websites and products.
• Synthesize and explain current state of science and medicine to lay professionals and internal staff, including implications for the Association.
