Job summary

The American Heart Association is seeking a Science and Medicine Advisor (SMA) to direct and guide science volunteers in developing scientific statements, guidelines, and educational programs. This high-impact position requires advanced clinical credentials and the ability to manage domestic and international volunteers, with ~25% travel.

Home-based in the U.S. is acceptable.

Qualifications

• Must have strong writing and communication skills with a publication history in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects and volunteers (domestic and international).
• Experience in coordinating with clinicians, researchers, and scientists to develop statements and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Guide and partner with science volunteers in creating scientific statements, advisories, guidelines, and conference programming.
• Provide consultation and approval on science aspects for internal programs and public materials.
• Review content for Association websites and products.
• Synthesize and explain current state of science to lay professionals and staff.
