Job summary

Mercy Health in Springfield, OH is seeking a Lead RN/Charge Nurse to coordinate patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager. You will implement nursing processes, promote clinical excellence and optimize resources for high-quality patient experiences.

The role requires an RN license (state or compact), and a background in nursing with leadership and interprofessional collaboration skills. A BSN is preferred; BLS is expected upon hire.

Qualifications

• RN license in the state they work or covered by compact (required)
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must obtain before patient care)
• Certifications required based on unit overseen (e.g., specialty areas) (preferred)
• PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC, National Board Certification Specialty (preferred)
• Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care on a designated unit.
• Collaborates with Clinical Manager to promote excellence in practice and patient experience.
• Adjusts schedule and patient assignments based on acuity and resources.
• Guides staff and oversees unit in absence of unit leader.
• Maintains knowledge of safety standards and infection control; uses supplies and equipment.
• Communicates with patients and families about plan of care.
• Rounds to evaluate safety, quality, and patient experience.
• Serves as resource to staff, patients, and families; may precept.
• Engages in interprofessional practice to ensure care coordination.
• Communicates with other departments to resolve operational problems.
• Participates in quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.
• Facilitates patient placement and discharge processes.
• Provides feedback and mentoring to nursing staff.
