ALASKA HEART INSTITUTE is seeking a Procedure Scheduling Coordinator in Anchorage to manage scheduling of appointments and procedures, answer the EP-RN hotline, and coordinate with preauthorization and surgical teams. The role emphasizes both technical scheduling skills and strong patient communications.

Required are a Medical Assistant credential and at least two years of scheduling experience, preferably in cardiac or surgical settings.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with current credentials.
• Two years scheduling experience, preferably cardiac or surgery related.
• Two years’ experience as CMA in a healthcare environment and 1-2 years in procedure scheduling.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Preferred: cardiology experience.

Responsibilities

• Answers EP‑RN Hotline and assists providers in scheduling follow‑ups and/or procedures for patients.
• Oversees appointment and procedure scheduling with priority to emergent cases.
• Coordinates with preauthorization department to initiate precertification requirements with commercial and/or government insurances.
• Ensures all prior authorizations are obtained prior to scheduled procedure date; modify schedule if needed to avoid gaps.
• Coordinates with outside vendors to ensure necessary surgical equipment is available and ready.
• Provides basic preoperative instructions to patients at scheduling including meds and consent forms.
• Ensures procedure consents are signed, imported into charts, and forwarded to facilities.
