Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for per diem, to coordinate and implement patient care for an assigned unit in New Mexico. You will perform initial assessments, develop care plans, and educate patients and families while ensuring safety and alignment with unit standards.

You will also participate in discharge planning, document interventions, and collaborate with physicians and staff to maintain high-quality care and positive patient relations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Current NM RN license or Compact state license.
• BLS certification required or within 2 weeks of hire.
• Ability to perform age-appropriate assessments.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record initial assessment and set priorities according to patient age and needs.
• Reassess patients regularly to identify progress and plan interventions.
• Develop and implement a measurable individualized plan of care.
• Make nursing decisions based on evaluations and modify the plan as needed.
• Participate in patient and family education and discharge planning.
• Document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
• Evaluate the plan of care and outcomes.
• Perform Point of Care testing procedures.
• Communicate effectively and delegate unit tasks to ensure care is delivered.
• Coordinate team assignments and adjust to patient needs.
• Escalate issues using chain of command.
• Participate in unit orientation and act as a resource.
• Promote a positive work environment and teamwork.
• Contribute to unit growth and organizational goals.
• Maintain patient rights and safety policies.
