Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Post‑high school coursework in Medical Terminology or Office Assistant is preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terms and health insurance.
• Strong desktop computer skills.
• Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is preferred.
• Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the front desk area runs smoothly.
• Greets and checks patients in & out.
• Schedules patient appointments.
• Coordinates scheduling of incoming patient referrals.
• Serves as resource to staff regarding patient scheduling issues.
• Performs general office duties.
• Monitors inventory of various supplies.
• Assists patients in filling out patient forms.
• Performs pre-verification duties.
• Answers phones, takes messages, and routes calls when necessary.
• Collects co-payments from patients.
• Assists in coordinating physician schedules.
• Is a subject matter expert for processes in the reception area.
• Trains new hires on department processes after onboarding.
