Job summary

Methodist Medical Group is seeking a professional medical coder to review documentation and assign CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 codes for professional services. The coder will research coding inquiries and educate providers on proper documentation.

Primary focus includes Cardiology and Cardiothoracic services with on-site training before remote work. Excellent knowledge of CMS guidelines and coding policies is essential for accurate reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional coding experience or one year with two years of HCC experience
• CPC or CCS-P certification required; CCC preferred
• Strong knowledge of CMS manuals and coding guidelines
• Able to communicate coding information clearly to providers

Responsibilities

• Review charges inpatient and outpatient for Cardiology and Cardiothoracic providers and assign CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10 codes, modifiers, and units
• Perform research into coding inquiries and educate providers on correct coding and documentation
• Manage specialty-specific queues including Cardiology and Thoracic Surgery and ensure timely claim submission
• Maintain 90% coding accuracy and department production levels
