Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to support the professional caregiver in delivering patient care, transport patients and equipment, and maintain patient rooms.

You will perform clerical duties, assist with examinations, review orders, and help with documentation and inventory. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, NC Nursing Assistant I license, BLS, and strong English communication; work is on-site with daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Must be fluent in verbal and written English language.
• Capability to develop computer skills if not competent.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other health care providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies.
• Critically reviews patient care documentation, noting significant changes and reporting them to a nurse or physician.
• Performs clerical tasks: organize workload, greet visitors, research information for nurses/physicians, review and revise orders, answer phones and transcribe orders, maintain medical records, quality audits and data entry.
• Provides clinical support: clean work areas, troubleshoot equipment, change linens, check inventory, transport patients/supplies/specimens, orient new staff and students.
• Provides direct personal patient care per plan of care: bathing, dressing, feeding, ambulation, measure vital signs, specimen collection, wound care, ROM exercises.
• Reinforces patient education and distributes educational materials at request.
