Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APRN) leader in Cardiology at Backus Hospital, with responsibilities across outpatient Hartford HealthCare Medical Group offices to coordinate comprehensive care for cardiology patients.

This role oversees the APP team, guiding program development and quality, while collaborating with physician leadership and practice management to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physician Assistant or APRN with leadership experience.
• Graduate of an approved PA/APRN program.
• 5+ years clinical experience.
• 3+ years in cardiology preferred.
• Licensure: CT Advanced Practice Provider license, DEA.
• Certification or eligible as PA/APRN.
• ACLS/BLS certification required.
• Ability to support both inpatient and outpatient practices.
• Knowledge of cardiac devices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide cardiac APP clinical services.
• Oversee APP team work assignments, schedules, training, and evaluation.
• Monitor competency and outcomes of care by APP team.
• Set quality goals for the APP team and drive improvements.
• Lead staff development and education initiatives.
• Participate in hiring discussions for APPs.
• Coordinate with physician leadership and practice manager.
• Act as liaison among nursing, medical staff, and management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
