Job summary

Phoenix Specialty Hospital is seeking a Telemetry Technician (Monitor Technician). Under the Director of Nursing, you identify and interpret cardiac rhythms, notify the appropriate nurse of changes, and document interpretations while complying with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience in cardiac monitoring.
• Arrhythmia course certificate (CRAT or CET) preferred; BLS certification required.
• Current hospital competency in rhythm interpretation and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observes the cardiac monitors for all assigned telemetry patients; do not leave monitors unattended without hand-off to a qualified relief.
• Identify and interpret arrhythmias; notify the nurse of significant rhythm or vital sign changes and provide rhythm strips.
• Run, label, interpret, and file a rhythm strip for each patient at least every four hours or as instructed by the nurse.
• Document initiation/termination and rhythm changes during Code Blue; respond to emergencies as directed.
• Respond promptly to monitor alarms (lead-off, low-battery, signal-loss) and notify staff to correct issues.
• Admit, transfer, and discharge patients in the central monitoring system; verify identity and maintain monitoring logs and hand-off.
• Complete competency checklists and ensure maintenance of monitoring equipment; report malfunctions.
