Job summary

Mercyhealth Wisconsin and Illinois in Janesville, WI is seeking a Surgical Scrub Technologist to support the operating room team. You will prepare instruments, maintain a sterile field, and assist during procedures to ensure patient safety and smooth workflow.

This full-time role offers daytime shifts, 40 hours per week, with competitive pay. Certification through NBSTSA is preferred; CPR/BLS within 90 days; high school diploma required and completion of a CAAHEP-accredited program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program required or currently participating in accreditation.
• Less than 1 year experience as a Surgical Scrub technologist.
• Certified Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA preferred; required if the program is not accredited but currently participating in accreditation process.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery while maintaining sterile field.
• Assists surgical team before, during, and after surgery.
• Checks instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, and medications.
• Assists with patient positioning and draping.
• Performs counts for sponges, needles, and instruments prior to incision and before closure.
• Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; maintains sterile technique.
• Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure and prepares dressings.
• Cleans operating room after procedures and helps prep for next patient.
• Participates in department performance improvement activities.
