Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the inpatient Cardiac Surgery Step-down unit. This full-time, rotating position focuses on post-surgical cardiac patient management with no OR or ICU rounds.

Expect 13-hour shifts, with 8–10 weekends per year and required weekends/holidays. Requirements include a Master’s degree in Nursing or PA program, acute care certification for APRNs, and a current Illinois RN license with APRN or PA licensure.

• Acute care certification required for APRNs/ PAs.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive assessments and physical exams of post-surgical cardiac patients.
• Provides direct clinical care and prescribes meds per privileges.
• Collaborates with physicians and team to manage patient care and educate families.
• Mentors students and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
