Qualifications

• Minimum one year RN experience in acute care; critical care preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer prescribed medications, including IV and cardiac meds.
• Perform cardiac assessments and review histories.

We are seeking a Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse, also known as a Telemetry registered nurse who specializes in providing care for patients who are recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events like heart attacks. They offer an intermediate level of care between the ICU and the general medical-surgical floor. These nurses are responsible for close monitoring, medication administration, patient education, and care coordination.

Responsibilities

• monitor patients' cardiac status, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect any changes or abnormalities, which is crucial for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, heart attacks, or other cardiac conditions
• administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous drugs, cardiac medications, and pain management medications
• perform assessments of patients' cardiac status, including physical assessments, review medical histories, and evaluate symptoms
• provide education to patients and their families about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and self-care practices
• React promptly to cardiac emergencies, including arrhythmias, cardiac arrests, or respiratory distress, necessitating immediate implementation of emergency procedures, administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and aiding in defibrillation and other crucial life‑saving measures

Qualifications

• Current valid State Registered Nurse License.
• Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• RN-C within 2 years of hire preferred
