Job summary

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital is seeking a part-time Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist to perform comprehensive ultrasound exams, including 2D imaging, Doppler, and echocardiography, with opportunities to mentor others. The role requires ARDMS credentials and BLS at hire, with a strong clinical focus in cardiac pathology evidenced by the Johns Hopkins-based scope described.

The position is based in Wayne, MI, with a variable shift and a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound program.
• Minimal experience; student level acceptable.
• BLS certification required upon hire (AHA or ARC) or equivalent.
• RDCS/ACS/RCS credentials required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations including 2D imaging, spectral and color Doppler, and m‑mode.
• Include transesophageal, exercise, pharmacologic echocardiograms, and LV opacification studies.
• Mentor/preceptor for other ultrasonographers or students.

About Corewell Health Wayne Hospital

Corewell Health Wayne Hospital opened its doors to western Wayne communities in 1957. This full‑service hospital is the only hospital in the Wayne, Westland, Garden City, Canton, Inkster and Romulus area verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level III Trauma Center. The hospital has a longstanding partnership with Detroit Metropolitan Airport and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to handle a wide variety of health and communicable disease concerns including mass trauma and emergency patients.

Scope to Work

Perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations consisting of: 2‑dimensional imaging, spectral and color flow Doppler, m‑mode; transesophageal; exercise and pharmacologic echocardiograms; saline and left ventricular opacification studies on adult patients. Instruction of medical personnel in technical performance, clinical application, and cardiac pathology as it pertains to cardiac ultrasound. May act as a mentor/preceptor for other ultrasonographers and/or students. This is a Cardiac Ultrasound position; only RDCS, ACS, or RCS credentials are required.

Qualifications

• Required associate's degree or equivalent Graduate of Diagnostic Ultrasound Program or equivalent.
• Minimal experience gained at student level. Required.
• CRT‑Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA American Heart Association Upon hire required OR
• CRT‑Basic Life Support (BLS) – ARC American Red Cross Upon hire required.
• CRT‑Sonographer (S) – ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography EXCLUDE Cardiac 1 year required.
• CRT‑Breast Sonographer (BS) – ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography EXCLUDES Cardiac, General, Vascular 1 year required.
• CRT‑Abdomen (AB) – ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography EXCLUDES Cardiac EXCLUDES Vascular 1 year required OR
• CRT‑Ob/Gyn (OB) – ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography EXCLUDES Cardiac EXCLUDES Vascular 1 year required OR
