Job description

Join to apply for the Cardiac Sonographer (Echo Tech) role at Froedtert South.

Perform echocardiograms, stress echoes, and TEES at the request of the physician. Skilled in interpreting echocardiography to create preliminary reports for cardiologists.

Minimum Education Required
  • Completion of an accredited Echocardiographic program (CAAHEP accredited)
Minimum Experience Required
  • No experience required, 1-3 years preferred
Licenses / Certifications Required
  • RDCS or CCI registered
  • Current BLS and/or CPR certification or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hire
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in performing echocardiograms preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling, and record keeping
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Competence with all related equipment
  • Understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology
  • Ability to work under stress in urgent situations
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure patient safety
  • Position patients, operate equipment, and verify ECGs
  • Produce high-quality images, perform measurements, and review previous results
  • Follow hospital policies, safeguard confidentiality, and participate in QA
  • Perform maintenance, manage supplies, and review orders
  • Assist with transesophageal and stress echocardiograms
  • Use contrast agents appropriately and explain their use to patients
  • Communicate effectively and work well independently or in a team
