Responsibilities
- Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures such as M-mode, 2-D, Doppler and Color Flow Doppler utilizing various equipment and techniques, making measurements for accurate interpretation (e.g., muscle wall thickness, chamber diameters, valve areas).
- Assists physicians in complex procedures in Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs by performing echocardiograph studies.
- Identifies cardiac abnormalities and extends examinations as needed.
- Prepares patients, obtains clinical history, and adapts imaging techniques for comprehensive, diagnostic echocardiograms.
- Assists with transesophageal studies, calculates measurements, and sterilizes probes.
- Communicates clinical findings and records statistics, maintaining lab equipment.
- Provides age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles.
Qualifications
- Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS-AE) registration with Adult Echo (ARDMS) within 1 year, or
- Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) registration (CCI), and
- BLS certification within 6 months (unless exempted).
Education & Experience
- Completion of an accredited Sonography program.
- No experience required.
Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of sonographic principles and cardiac anatomy.
- Interpersonal and patient service skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
Physical & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, operate equipment, and wear protective gear.
- Able to sit, stand, walk, push, pull, and perform transfers as specified.
