Qualifications

• Graduate Cardiac Ultrasound or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program graduate.
• Minimum of one year ultrasound experience, preferably in cardiovascular settings.
• Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within the established timeframe.

Overview

The Cardiac Sonographer plays a vital role in delivering exceptional cardiovascular care by performing comprehensive echocardiographic studies that assess both normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. This team member utilizes advanced ultrasound technology to obtain and document high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with established guidelines, departmental policies, and best practices. The Cardiac Sonographer works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and fellow team members to support accurate diagnoses and positive patient outcomes while exemplifying WakeMed's mission, values, and commitment to excellence in cardiovascular care.
