Job summary

WakeMed is seeking an experienced Cardiovascular Sonographer to perform echocardiographic and vascular studies in a busy cardiology setting in Raleigh.

The role requires independent work, accurate preliminary reporting, and a patient-centered approach focused on safety and comfort. BLS is required, and an associate degree in cardiovascular sonography is preferred.

Qualifications

• Registered Cardiovascular Sonographer with current certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• Minimum 1 year clinical ultrasound experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of cardiovascular ultrasound studies including echocardiograms and arterial Doppler.
• Complete preliminary reports accurately for provider review.
• Work independently with strong communication and teamwork.
• Maintain patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction throughout interactions.
• Follow established guidelines, policies, and quality standards.

Overview

The Cardiovascular Sonographer at WakeMed Heart & Vascular plays an important role in providing high-quality cardiovascular imaging and an exceptional experience for our patients. In this highly visible practice, you’ll perform a variety of echocardiographic and vascular studies, using your clinical expertise and ultrasound technology to capture accurate, quality images and assist with preliminary reporting. This role is a great fit for an experienced sonographer who is confident working independently, adapts well to change, and enjoys collaborating with a team focused on delivering excellent patient care.

What You'll Do

• Perform a variety of cardiovascular ultrasound studies, including:
• Echocardiograms
• Stress echocardiograms
• Arterial Doppler studies
• Abdominal aorta Doppler studies
• Venous Doppler studies
• Venous insufficiency studies
• Additional cardiovascular and vascular studies as needed
• Use ultrasound equipment to visualize and record high-quality images of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
• Complete preliminary reports accurately and efficiently for provider review.
• Work independently while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with providers and team members.
• Recognize challenges, take initiative, and proactively identify solutions to support an efficient practice.
• Adapt to changing patient volumes, priorities, workflows, and the evolving needs of the practice.
• Maintain a strong focus on patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction throughout each interaction.
• Follow established clinical guidelines, departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards.
