Mercy Health is seeking a Surgical Assistant for the Cardiac Team at Anderson Hospital. The role supports the cardiac surgical team by preparing the room, handling tissue, using instruments, suturing, and maintaining sterile technique during intra-operative procedures.

The position requires a Surgical Assistant Program credential and at least two years in an operating room, with preference for cardiovascular OR experience.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates ability to monitor patient conditions during treatment.
• Performs wound closure and knot tying with precision.
• Maintains sterile field and uses surgical instruments correctly.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the surgical assistant on cardiac cases.
• Under surgeon supervision, handles tissue and exposure, uses instruments, sutures, and hemostasis.
• Performs wound scrub, gowning, gloving, and draping to maintain sterility.
• Assists with dressings and postoperative care as directed.
• Maintains patient safety and a clean, hazard-free environment.
