Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Cardiac Device Technician to support the Cardiovascular Medicine team in Norwood. The role focuses on managing all patients with cardiac devices, reviewing remote transmissions, and ensuring timely communications with physicians, NPs/PAs, and staff.

The position requires strong written and verbal skills, ability to work in a patient-centric team, and travel to multiple sites as part of the remote monitoring program.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Two years of current experience analyzing and programming cardiac implantable devices
  • Minimum of two years of current experience reviewing and managing remote device transmissions
  • Experience with device remote monitoring programs (Merlin, Boston Scientific, Medtronic) is a plus

  • Triaging reports daily
  • Notify patients of follow-ups and assist with transmissions by phone
  • Troubleshoot remote monitoring systems
  • Assist with device advisories/recalls
  • Review and document remote transmissions daily
  • Travel to Norwood, Foxboro, Brighton and Methuen as needed
  • Educate and enroll patients in remote monitoring systems
  • Coordinate with physicians and NP/PA for findings

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of Nursing, Director of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Medical Director, the Cardiac Device Technician will assist in the management of all patients with Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs). Primarily the daily review and documentation of remote pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) transmissions and alerts. This ambulatory setting requires the Device Tech to work in a patient centric environment with a team approach to delivery of care. The Device Tech must possess strong written and verbal communication skills in order to maximize the clinical relationship with the physician providers, Independent licensed providers (NP/PA), clinical administrative staff, and other device medical staff.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
  • Triaging reports on a daily basis
  • Patient notification of follow-up
  • Assists patients with transmissions over the phone
  • Troubleshoot issues with the remote monitoring systems
  • Assists with device advisories/recalls
  • Daily review and documentation of remote transmissions
  • Requires travel to Norwood, Foxboro, Brighton and Methuen
  • Appropriate communication of finding requiring further attention with responsible MD or NP/PA
  • Enrollment, education, scheduling, and maintenance of patient in various remote monitoring systems (Merlin, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, etc.)
  • Assists with the management and maintenance of the remote monitoring program (Merlin, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, etc.)
  • Collection of patients from waiting area, vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram, assisting in check-out process.
  • Must adhere to all of BMC's RESPECT behavioral standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED
  • Current BLS certification required
EXPERIENCE
  • Required: Successful completion of a full Cardiac Device Educational Program (such as PrepMD) OR
  • Two years of current experience analyzing and programming cardiac implantable devices
  • Required: Minimum of two years of current experience reviewing and managing remote device transmissions

Compensation Range

$26.68- $37.50

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
