Job description

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Medical Director, the Cardiac Device Technician will assist in the management of all patients with Cardiovascular Implantable Electronic Devices (CIEDs). Primarily the daily review and documentation of remote pacemaker, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), and Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) transmissions and alerts. The Device Tech works in a patient‑centric ambulatory setting with a team approach to care. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to maximize the clinical relationship with physicians, independent licensed providers (NP/PA), clinical administrative staff, and other device medical staff. Position: Cardiac Device Technician. Department: BMC Health – Cardiovascular Medicine Norwood. Schedule: Full Time.

Essential Responsibilities / Duties
  • Triage reports on a daily basis.
  • Notify patients of follow‑up.
  • Assist patients with transmissions over the phone.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the remote monitoring systems.
  • Assist with device advisories/recalls.
  • Daily review and documentation of remote transmissions.
  • Travel to Norwood, Foxboro, Brighton, and Methuen.
  • Communicate findings requiring further attention to responsible MD or NP/PA.
  • Enroll, educate, schedule, and maintain patients in remote monitoring systems (Merlin, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, etc.).
  • Assist with the management and maintenance of the remote monitoring program.
  • Collect patients from the waiting area, obtain vital signs, 12‑lead ECG, and assist in check‑out process.
  • Adhere to all BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards.
Job Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current BLS certification required.
  • Experience:
    1. Successful completion of a full Cardiac Device Educational Program (e.g., PrepMD) or two years of current experience analyzing and programming cardiac implantable devices.
    2. Minimum of two years of current experience reviewing and managing remote device transmissions.
  • Knowledge and Skills:

Compensation

Salary range: $26.68–$37.50 per hour. The range is based on education, experience, skills, certifications, and other factors and is subject to change based on geographic location.
