Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise or Health Science, or 5 years of related cardiac tech experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • At least 1 year of experience in cardiac services is required.
  • Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International is required on hire.
  • Specialist certifications in cardiac devices and remote monitoring are required on hire.
  • Additional certifications in electrophysiology, exercise physiology, EKG tech, BLS and ACLS on hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform device interrogations, interpretations and programming for pacemakers, ICDs and loop recorders.
  • Process patient data with clinical judgment and educate patients on care and procedures.
  • Respond to potential emergencies, make clinical decisions under physician protocol.
  • Escort rooming patients and provide care as directed by a provider.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Exercise or Health Science
1 year of experience in cardiac services
National Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International
National Certified Cardiac Device Specialist
National Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring Specialist
National Certified Electrophysiology Specialist
National Clinical Exercise Physiologist
National Certified EKG Technician
National Provider BLS
National Provider ACLS
Master's Degree

Job description

The Cardiac Device Technologist is primarily responsible for performing device interrogations, interpretations and programming of Pacemakers, Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators, Loop Recorders, and home monitor equipment. Responsible for above procedures and processing patient data with clinical judgment using a variety of information systems while facilitating clear patient education regarding their cardiac care, medications, disease process/prevention, risk factors, and cardiac procedures. The position is responsible for recognizing and responding immediately and appropriately to potential emergency situations that arise, and making clinical decisions in regards to heart rhythms, safety, contraindications to testing, and test termination under physician protocol. Other functions may include escorting rooming patients, and providing care as directed by a provider. Potential variability in work schedule between Cardiology locations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise or Health Science, or 5 years of experience in cardiac telemetry, electrocardiogram, electrophysiology tech, monitor tech, device industry, or device monitoring may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 1 year of experience in cardiac services
  • National Certification from Cardiovascular Credentialing International, upon hire
  • National Certified Cardiac Device Specialist from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners, upon hire
  • National Cardiac Device Remote Monitoring Specialist from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners, upon hire
  • National Certified Electrophysiology Specialist from the International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners, upon hire
  • National Clinical Exercise Physiologist from the American College of Sports Medicine, upon hire
  • National Certified EKG Technician from the National Healthcareer Association, upon hire
  • National Provider BLS from the American Heart Association, upon hire
  • National Provider ACLS from the American Heart Association, upon hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • 1 year of cardiac device experience
