Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current certification in CPR Basic or Advanced Life Support (BLS or ACLS).
• License/registry to perform CRAT (Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician) required.
• Graduate of medical assistant certification program preferred.
• Two years previous clinical experience in cardiac setting required. Previous experience with heart monitoring devices preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interrogates pacemakers and ICDs, monitor remote access of devices; interrogates/reprograms and troubleshoots patients with implantable pacemakers, ICDs and loop recorders.
• Coordinates treatment and care for patients with devices; interacts with clients, patients and Practice staff, providing patient care, communicating, organizing and resolving issues with regard to monitoring.
• Presents patients to the doctor in clinic; alerts doctor of any problems with patient or device.
• Ensures accurate recording, reporting and authorization; other data entry includes billing codes.
• Coordinates clinic scheduling needs, including coordination of device tech vendors and representatives.
• Enrolls patients electronically for remote monitoring and educate patients on device care and follow up including home monitoring instructions.
• Provides proper support as medical assistant as necessary (prepare and room patient, take vitals/bp, conducts EKG or ECT, review meds).
• Maintains equipment/systems, follow operating instructions; report hazardous conditions; troubleshoots calibrate equipment.
• Promotes positive patient relations; confidentiality of all information related to patients.
• Organizes priorities and works independently and as a member of a team; rotating among office locations.
