Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health's Jersey City Medical Center is seeking a Unit Secretary for the Cardiac Post CTICU to support nursing staff in the evening shift. The role involves clerical duties, patient chart handling, and aiding daily unit operations in a fast-paced environment.

Under supervision, you will maintain accurate records, manage communications, assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensure a safe, organized unit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Excellent communication skills
• Exceptional organizational skills
• Preferred: 1 year related experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology

Responsibilities

• Identify correct patient charts and report before filing; verify accuracy and take corrective action.
• Maintain confidentiality and patient privacy at all times.
• Assist nurses with organized workflow and unit operations.
• Deliver charts, requisitions, specimens and other items between departments.
• Respond to patient and visitor inquiries and refer to appropriate staff.
• Keep station neat and stocked with supplies.
