Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital is seeking a registered nurse to provide direct patient care during night shifts. You will lead and supervise ancillary staff, assess patient needs, and collaborate with the care team to plan discharge and ongoing care.

The role requires RI RN licensure (NLC accepted) and a bachelor’s-level nursing credential is preferred. You will participate in quality improvement activities and serve as a preceptor to newer staff while maintaining required safety training.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Rhode Island or NLC compliant license.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
• Experience providing care across the life span with aging considerations.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Provides leadership by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing activities.
• Evaluates effectiveness of patient care and identifies improvement opportunities.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team, patient, family and community services regarding discharge planning.
• Assesses and provides teaching based on patient and family needs.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research activities.
• Utilizes resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Meets clinical competencies and completes required safety education (BLS and ACLS/PALS as appropriate).
• Identifies growth needs and participates in education opportunities and professional organizations.
• Serves as a preceptor to new graduates and less experienced staff.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as delegated.
