Qualifications

• RN license in Rhode Island or compact license required.
• Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred.
• NIHSS Certification within 3 months of hire.
• Annual stroke education requirement (8 hours).

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care.
• Leads by delegating, supervising and participating in safe nursing activities.
• Evaluates care effectiveness and identifies improvements.
• Collaborates with healthcare team, patient, family and community services on discharge planning.
• Assesses and teaches patients and families as needed.
• Participates in unit-based quality improvement and research.
• Maintains required clinical competencies and safety education (BLS, ACLS/PALS).
• Serves as role model/preceptor to new graduates and less experienced staff.
• Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as delegated.
