Job summary

01 Salinas Valley Health Medical Center's Cardiac Diagnostic Outpatient Clinic seeks a patient-focused clerk to support scheduling, registration and data entry. You will help move patients through the clinic, answer phones, and assist with basic charting in Meditech and related systems.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, one to two years of clerical/scheduling experience, familiarity with medical terminology, and CNA/BLS certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• One to two years of clerical/scheduling experience is preferred.
• Medical terminology is strongly preferred.
• Work requires a high school diploma or GED.
• CNA certification and BLS/Healthcare Provider status required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and reschedules inpatient/outpatient procedures as needed; ensures physician availability.
• Pre-registers patients in Meditech with accurate demographics and documentation.
• Answers telephone in a professional manner and directs calls appropriately.
• Provides general procedure information and instructions to patients; refers to clinical staff as needed.
• Transmits images via PACS and prepares reports for third-party coding.
• Maintains department schedules and coordinates with Cath Lab, Sleep Center and RT.
• Assists with patient ambulation and transportation as needed; supports department flow.
