Job summary

Salinas Valley Health Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Assistant in the Emergency Department to perform basic patient care and clerical duties, including entering orders and maintaining records. You will support admissions, discharges and transfers, observe patients, and communicate findings to the licensed nurse.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, state CNA or EMT certification for hires after 1998, and current BLS/Healthcare Provider status.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• State Nurse Assistant or EMT certification for staff hired after June 1998 required.
• Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status per American Heart Association standards required.
• One year experience as a CNA or EMT with acute care within the last 3–5 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care activities according to age appropriate and developmental needs.
• Enter and process orders; maintain patient records.
• Assist with admissions, discharge and transfer of patients.
• Observe patients and report unusual conditions or reactions to licensed nurse.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment; replenish unit supplies.
