Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York seeks a Director, Carborne System Data Maintenance to oversee software and hardware configuration control for carborne applications across the subway fleet.

You will develop and maintain configuration documentation, commission software workstations, validate vendor software, and lead a team of engineers specializing in network troubleshooting and data interpretation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Seven years of professional experience.
• Three years of managerial/supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of carborne software and hardware configuration management and maintenance for systems supporting new procurements and fleet retrofits.
• Manage a team of engineers responsible for software platform evaluations, compliance with industry standards, and cybersecurity requirements.
• Oversee in-house software development, testing, validation, and implementation with safe deployment of updates and training for maintenance personnel.
• Maintain software version control, documentation, and inventory for software workstations, portable test equipment, and diagnostic tools.
• Forecast hardware/software obsolescence and ensure diagnostics remain operational.
• Provide technical support to shops for train network, communications, monitoring, diagnostics, and event recorder issues.
• Analyze event recorder and diagnostic data for incident investigations and support safety-related investigations.
• Coordinate vendor loan/test agreements and oversee engineering reviews and testing activities from development to closeout.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to validate, integrate, secure, document, and transition new railcar technologies into sustainable operational support models.
• Ensure compliance with governance, cybersecurity, configuration control, escrow requirements, and safety standards while supporting fleet reliability.
