Job summary

Hornblower Corp seeks a Captain to oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and overall condition of the vessel and to supervise the crew on a day-to-day basis. The captain directs the crew and must meet company and regulatory requirements.

The role requires navigation in all weather, proper manning, safety drills, and crew training. You must hold a 100-TON Master Inland or higher license, TWIC, First Aid/CPR, and a Marine Radio Operator Permit.

Qualifications

• Captain must hold at least a 100-TON Master Inland license and comply with regulations.
• TWIC, First Aid/CPR, and Marine Radio Operator Permit required.
• Strong safety, navigation, and teamwork abilities are essential.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and major holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe and efficient operation and navigation of the vessel.
• Ensure proper manning and accurate passenger counts per COI.
• Train crew and evaluate performance; report to Operations Manager.
• Maintain vessel appearance and cleanliness.
• Perform preventative maintenance on diesel, electrical, and other systems.
• Document maintenance in Wheel-House Software.
• Lead safety drills per USCG regulations and company policy.
• Conduct daily job briefings and log completion in the vessel logbook.
• Enforce company policies and CG rules; communicate with guests and crew.
• Respond promptly to accidents/incidents with timely reporting.
