Job summary

The Hornblower Group's City Cruises division seeks a Captain to ensure safe operation, maintenance and overall condition of the vessel, and to supervise the crew aboard. You will direct daily activities, meet regulatory requirements, and uphold company policies while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities include safe navigation in all weather, proper manning per COI, training crew, reporting incidents, performing preventative maintenance, and conducting safety drills in line

Qualifications

• Minimum 100-TON Master Inland or above License
• TWIC, First Aid/CPR.
• Marine Radio Operator Permit
• Detail Oriented / situational awareness
• Strong Radar / Navigation skills
• Strong focus on safety and teamwork
• Strong customer service, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain a high level of organization, detailed oriented and meet deadlines.
• Handle multiple tasks/projects at one time.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by job responsibility.
• Listen effectively, assess the situation, determine relevant issues, & suggest solutions.
• Have a working knowledge of computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suites.

Responsibilities

• Captain is onboard manager and representative.
• Safe and efficient operation and navigation of the vessel in all weather; safety of all aboard.
• Ensure proper manning per COI and accurate passenger counts.
• Train crew and ensure compliance with USCG, Federal and State laws and company policies.
• Report accidents/incidents promptly; complete required forms.
• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of the vessel.
• Perform preventative maintenance on systems (diesel, hydraulics, electrical, etc.).
• Conduct periodic engine room inspections.
• Document maintenance in Wheel-House Software.
• Maintain Security Plan and conduct security drills as required.
• Conduct daily job briefings; log in vessel's logbook.
• Ensure crew adherence to company policies and regulations.
• Comply with Coast Guard rules and regulations and Emergency Response Plan.
• Additional duties as assigned.
