Job summary

Hornblower Corp in Boston seeks an experienced Captain to oversee safe operation, crew supervision, and regulatory compliance aboard our vessel. The captain directs day-to-day activities and ensures all minimum qualifications are met.

You will manage navigation, safety drills, maintenance, and reporting, coordinating with Operations and shore management. The role requires a 100-Ton Inland Master license, TWIC, USCG prerequisites, and strong teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented and situational awareness.
  • Strong radar and navigation skills are required.
  • Safety focus and teamwork is essential.

Responsibilities

  • The Captain is the company’s onboard manager and representative.
  • Responsible for safe and efficient operation and navigation of the vessel.
  • Ensures proper manning per COI and accurate passenger counts.
  • Responsible for crew training and adherence to USCG and regulations.
  • Report accidents/incidents promptly and complete forms.
  • Maintain vessel appearance and cleanliness.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on multiple systems.
  • Ensure engine room inspections are conducted.
  • Document maintenance in Wheel-House Software.
  • Conduct safety drills per USCG and policy.
  • Lead daily job briefings and log outcomes.
  • Ensure crew compliance with policies.
  • Comply with Coast Guard and local regulations.
  • Adhere to Emergency Response Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.
