Job summary

State of Michigan in Lansing seeks an Executive Assistant to provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the Chief of Staff and External Affairs Director in a fast-paced Capitol office. The role requires discretion and poise while managing shifting priorities and sensitive information.

You will interact with the Speaker, legislators, and senior leadership, coordinating meetings, events, and documents, and maintaining confidential files to ensure timely execution and high-quality

Qualifications

  • Experience in government or legislative office preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily schedules, meeting logistics, and internal office priorities.
  • Coordinate events from small meetings to large gatherings.
  • Track and follow up on tasks, deadlines, and requests.
  • Prepare, edit, and proofread documents for accuracy.
  • Greet and assist visitors, staff, and stakeholders in the Capitol office.
  • Maintain organized physical and digital files for quick reference.
  • Support office operations, ordering supplies, and handling administrative needs.
  • Uphold confidentiality and discretion in all communications.
