Job summary

BJCC seeks a Senior Capital Projects Manager to oversee capital improvement projects, plan budgets, and drive on-time, on-budget delivery. You will lead the projects department, coordinate with accounting, IT, and facilities, and ensure compliance with contracts and regulations.

The role requires extensive construction project management experience, strong leadership, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment at a large facility in Birmingham, AL.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years in multi-discipline construction project management.
• Bachelor’s degree in building science or engineering preferred.
• Draftsman competency strongly preferred.
• Certifications CMP, PgMP or CAPM preferred.
• Valid Alabama driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Establish and manage capital project budgets and timelines; provide status reports.
• Hire, train, and evaluate the projects department team.
• Oversee all phases from design to handover to executives.
• Communicate with stakeholders to clarify desired project outcomes.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and consultants on plans.
• Assist in bid documents and the bid/selection process.
• Outline tasks and delegate responsibilities.
• Conduct cost analyses and estimate project costs.
• Perform risk assessments and mitigation recommendations.
• Act as liaison with customers and vendors.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Manage day-to-day project operations and collaboration with facilities.
• Develop and maintain project documentation.
• Submit progress reports to stakeholders and senior managers.
• Ensure processes are followed on projects.
• Manage project personnel to achieve objectives.
• Review project scope and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Uphold high-quality standards across projects.
• Track cost reporting for all capital projects at BJCC.
• Recommend future capital projects as needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
