Job summary

AkzoNobel in Waukegan, IL seeks a Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Manager to support designated manufacturing facilities. You will drive project prep and execution, define scope, engage end-users, and coordinate with Global Engineering to apply standards and tooling.

The role requires a BS in relevant engineering, 5 years CAPEX leadership, 3 years asset reliability experience, strong PM skills, and fluency in English. Travel may be required; SAP-PM experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5 years' experience leading and managing multiple capital expenditure projects.
• 3 years' asset reliability management experience with asset lifecycle methodologies.
• Engineering and maintenance reliability knowledge at an advanced level (MEng level).
• Strong project management skills with supplier management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead CAPEX project preparation and execution with defined scope and user requirements.
• Collaborate with facilities to capture technical needs and design solutions.
• Select suppliers, issue purchase requisitions, and determine contracting models.
• Manage internal or external engineering teams to deliver Basis of Design.
• Provide reliability direction and initiatives to improve asset performance.
• Lead root cause analysis and FMEA to drive asset reliability improvements.
• Report project status to engineering management and escalate risks.
