Job summary

The Seattle Public Library, on behalf of The City of Seattle, is seeking a Capital Improvement Project Manager to lead major facility projects from development through closeout. You will develop comprehensive work plans, manage budgets and schedules, and oversee contractor and vendor contracts while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders to keep projects on time and within scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Building Construction or equivalent training.
• Minimum seven years of established experience in facilities project management as an in-house owner’s representative on diverse projects.
• Understanding of integrated facility design, building codes, and ADA compliance in Seattle.
• Experience in developing RFPs for design/consulting services and procurement in institutional settings.
• Strong ability to define project scope, programming, and space planning.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills across organizational levels.
• Proficiency with MS Office and related project software (Project, Visio, Acrobat).

Responsibilities

• Project Development: develop work plans and schedules, confirm scope, coordinate consultants, prepare pricing and contracts.
• Construction Administration: monitor construction activities, review changes, manage payments and approvals, and coordinate project teams.
• Project Closeout: manage punch lists, warranties, and final documentation; ensure smooth startup, occupancy, and handover.
